What the heck is a Gogi Berry?
Gogi berry is the general name of fruit from Lycium barbarum or Lycium chinesnse, which are native trees to China. It has been cultivated in different countries, include United Kingdom, India, United States, and Australia. The fruit is picked when ripe and dried before we can see it on the market. It has been used for more than 2,000 years in China in tea, rice wine, food, and Chinese medicine.
What are the benefits of gogi berry?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, goji berries have the effects of Yin tonifying and benefit the liver, kidney, lung and stomach. Scientifically, gogi berry have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects, and contain high concentrations of vitamins, carotenoids, beta-carotene, all of which can help eyesight and immunity.
Can I use gogi berry for my pet?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, gogi berry is rarely used alone. Instead, it is used in combination with other herbs for helping patients with Yin deficiency or blood deficiency. Conditions include dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, and renal insufficiency. It should be used with caution in patients with digestive issues from Qi deficiency.
